Brooklyn born and raised chef John Coppola spent many years in the best kitchens NY before obtaining a culinary arts degree from the Culinary institute of America in 2003. He opened Bread & Spread in January 2014, after briefly having a food cart in the neighborhood. First edition was a small 80 sq ft. space, two doors down, with just him and one cashier. At that time only 5 sandwiches were offered, including his popular, now often copied "build your own" breakfast sandwich with eggs cooked on grandma's cast-iron pan. Over the next few years, Bread & Spread grew to its present location while serving exquisite sandwiches, all roasted and toasted, made with only the finest local ingredients. Beautifully hand-crafted, from family recipes, with a passion for excellence for everybody to enjoy.
